| Community Sing is a performance-based interactive collaborative project with viewers and my installations. Viewer/participants are invited to explore synaesthetic relationships between image, color and song by spontaneously sounding out my panels using their voice and body as their instrument. The viewer warms up by singing out a fully realized section of paintings and then moves into the fully realized images. In the spirit of play and open-mindedness, together we enter more fully into a call and response aspect of abstract painting. I would like to bring together 300 people sounding out 300 panels simultaneously. Through cacophony I believe we will organize ourselves instinctively into a coherent choir sounding out an invented piece of syncretic music, much like the unified, complex behaviors of large flocks or schools of animals. |
